Harry Potter RP

So one thing that I've thought would be nice after reading Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality is a Harry Potter RP. Any thoughts?

Has some possibilities but let's be in the shadows and basically suffer or aid Potter and his friends. Or try to stack the cards for the main three to succeed.

Actually what I was thinking was that the RP would be set in 2013; this would put us long after the events of the Harry Potter series and we wouldn't have to get their kids involved either. That way we could have our own characters.

furthermore, as I've brought up to Opera and Sirius in meatspace, there could be a certain exchange program allowing for us to not only visit Hogwarts proper but also an America school built in Undertown beneath Chicago and Durmstrang in Svalbard.

There would be a Floo Network link between them, so that we can also go to the other schools.

Oh we can travel to the school and back to the states. But there will be questions about how we got there unofficially.

No no, it's an official thing set up with the full knowledge of each of the schools involved. Like an exchange program.

No. In fact, if nobody minds I might say that Dumbledore realized Riddle was a prick and the whole Wizarding War didn't happen. No Boy-Who-Lived, no Horcruxes, etc. etc.

That's where this thread comes in. You see, in HPMoR, Professor Quirrell created an Ender's Game-esque system of student armies that battled each other.

That ought to be interesting. Combat magic is always fun.

Now, seeing as how "wizard" is an actual class in Dungeons and Dragons: do any of the D&D rules come into play as far as wizards and all, [hey, I just asked a question relating to D&Ding! Yay me!  ] or will this just be a regular RP?

AKA: Are we basicly going to be a bunch of people running around with wizarding skills or are there going to be specifications?

At the moment I think we will not bring D&D rules in; D&D wizards operate on a different level than Harry Potter wizards. So it would be a regular RP. Now, you won't be able to operate every spell off the bat, but still.

Is this actually going to happen? If it is someone could make a list of spells for each year and make different challenges or creatures to go up against at different levels? If anyone is interested.

I'd like to run the RP, yes, but it would almost certainly work better with someone else running it. I have a hell of a lot on my plate at the moment: I've got rules to write, guides to write, roleplays to run, homework to do, Skyrim to mod, Minecraft to mod, books to read, Doctor Who to watch, character sheets to finalize, my wife to murder and Guilder to frame for it.

I'm swamped.
