A Journey Through Middle-Earth Empty A Journey Through Middle-Earth

Post by Scotsmen Sun Feb 23, 2014 11:09 pm

The year is T.A 2960. The Dwarves thrive in Erebor, and Sauron has returned to Mordor. The Elves are as reclusive as ever, and Hobbits... Well, Hobbits are in their own little world. Men in Gondor and Rohan are unaware of the danger that the Enemy in the East poses. Orcs thrive in the Misty Mountains and Grey. You are (insert character name here). What adventures await?

This is set between the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, mainly because I don't want the plot-lines of those books to interfere with this. Also note that this is not based on the movies. Create a character on the OOC that fits in the continent of Middle-Earth, and start playing.

A good place to learn some of Tolkien's lore is Tolkien Gateway, and here is a map of Middle-Earth. Ignore the blue line, that is just the path of Thorin and Company.

Have Fun!

Turganne Ironbeard was taking a small squad of soldiers to help repair a reported hole in the lower tunnels of Erebor.

Turganne reaches the site of the hole. It appears to be the opening of a natural underground cave.

"Aye, here we are... (Turganne inspects the hole) this seems like a cave... But it wasn't here before.
This is not a accidental cave! Lads lets go in carefully. Ivan, go tell the King something is amiss!" Turganne tells his men to follow him through the cave.

One of Turganne's dwarves grabs a torch off the wall as the dwarf named Ivan runs to tell the King. "I assume," another dwarf says, "we had better keep our axes loose in our belts, there's no knowin' what'll be in this cave."

Latnir starts, as he sees a lone man coming towards Rivendell. He appears to be about 10 miles off, and will soon cross the Ford of Bruinen.

The cave appears to extend about a fathom back, then stop. However, on each side there is an extremely small doorway, smaller even than a dwarf.

As Gwindle's men are setting up camp, the noises get louder, and closer. Howling, almost like wolves but more.... terrifying.

Just after Gwindle speaks, a huge form leaps into the camp, followed by a few others. They are most definitely wargs, but they are extremely far from the mountains. One of them grabs a man, but he stabs it in the head before it can do anything serious.

A few hits with a pick and the tunnel collapses, unfortunately before Turganne can get to the second one a party of 10 orcs leap out. One of them strikes at Turganne. ((Rolling to see if it hits))

The goblin scores a minor hit, however Turganne's armour protects him so that he is uninjured.

Turganne hits the orc in the side, causing some bleeding, but nothing major. Meanwhile, two orcs have been struck down by members of Turganne's party, leaving him with 5 dwarves against 8 orcs.

Turganne strikes the orc in the chest, damaging the lungs and causing the orc to have trouble breathing. It's as good as dead now. One other orc has been killed by the dwarves, leaving him with 5 dwarves against 6 orcs. These orcs aren't exactly trained for a regular fight like this.

Turganne hits the orc in the upper arm, cutting it off. Even as he does, another goblin lands on his back, stabbing him in the shoulder.

He manages to stun the orc, but not much else. The orc in front of him has bled out. 3 more orcs have been taken down, along with one dwarf.

(1) Turganne manages to knock the orc off of him, but fails to kill it. Just then, Ivan returns with 5 more dwarves, and charges into the melee. (5) The rest of the orcs are finished off quickly, excepting one, which is kept for interrogation.
