Trolls and Trinkets III
As the first T&T slowly died and the second one followed in its wake, it has been decided to try setting up another one: T&T III. Basically for those of you who don't know what T&T is, it is essentially a sandbox (no DM/ everybody is the DM) role-play. In the past T&T has been set up in the medieval(isn) era. Any thoughts about settings and how characters meet?

I suppose that now the question becomes the inevitable when, where, how. Anybody have a preference or should we just make stuff up as we go along?

Re: Trolls and Trinkets III
OK we now have a good amount of people interested.
Now the question comes down to as how we should set up the Role-play (AKA start out). With the last T&T most of us started in jail. We could do that again or we could do something else. Anyone have any suggestions as to what would be a fun way to start.

OK, medieval sounds good. Mycro suggested that the characters start out in jail like the last T&T. What do you guys think?

Yes, we should make our characters now. I think we have everything covered for the time being.

Oh right, keep in mind there is also magic. There isn't a set system as long as characters with magic don't get too overpowered.

If we wanted we could use my system of magic. I need playtesters before I use it for a novel :3

Re: Trolls and Trinkets III
I'll lay it out as much as I can. Basically there are two sources of magic and hence two ways of using it. The first is intrinsic magic embedded in materials a la Thaumcraft aspects. Certain materials have certain magical properties which are used in alchemical and artifact-based magics called thaumaturgy - essentially Thaumcraft or EE2 type stuff.
As an example, silver and steel can be bonded alchemically to create mithril, which is a light and very malleable metal used for armor because of its property of acting as an antimagic shield. Silver is pure and iron is unyielding so they together represent the physical override of magic (or somesuch. Basically silver kills werewolves and vampires while cold iron kills faeries and I BSed an excuse)
The other way is called praecantation and it revolves around drawing magic from outside of our reality. It's VASTLY more powerful on the face of it but it also has heavy prices, especially if you muck it up. Think of the worst things you can think of. Then realize that I'm borderline sociopathic, possess a knowledge of human anatomy and have read the Real Life page for Body Horror on TVTropes. You mess this up you'll be lucky if you just end up as a revenant (a magical being essentially a soul overwhelmed and maddened by pure energy - think elementals if they were insane ghosts).

Sure. Why not. My two characters will be in again for drunken brawling and tax evasion, like in the last one.
