Scout sighed softly, taking off her hat and running a hand through her hair, making it messier than it naturally was. "Sorry... just frustrated. So much bullcrap being dumped on us at one time doesn't exactly work wonders for the nerves or temper..."

Scout laughed bitterly. "I should've just stayed in Detroit... I found out about a week ago that I would've been fine if I hadn't accepted Blu's offer in the first place. Yeah, I wouldn' have the money, but still... bullshit everywhere," she said, sinking back down onto the bench, idly dropping her hat onto the floor.

Before anyone else spoke, Ninja sneaks back into the shadows and wherever she was, a metal fan came zipping out and slices Scout's throat.

Scout heard the zipping a second before it hit her, and when she turned to look, the fan tore past her. If she hadn't turned, then it definitely would have killed her. However, the fan had cut open a major artery or two, so she was still in severe danger of bleeding out within the next few minutes as her hand instinctively went up to her throat to staunch the bleeding. "Oh, fuck..." she whispered, her eyes widening. "... is respawn on?"

The Medi-Gun made a mechanical rushing sound as Medic depressed the trigger lever, sending a beam of healing energy into Scout's body and knitting the edges of the wound back together.

Demoman, Heavy and Pyro turned to glare at Ninja. "'Ey, we're on th' same team, ye great bloody moron!" Demo scolded.

Pauling sighed and adjusted her glasses, looking rather annoyed. "Now that you're all done killing each other, I'll tell you where you're going to be." At some point in the past three or so minutes she had set up a projector on a tripod. That projector now displayed a building complex on the wall behind Pauling. "This is Mannworks. Mann Co. uses it for...something. I don't know. The point is, the robots are attacking it and Saxton Hale wants you to defend it."

Scout sighed in relief, and scampered off to hide behind pyro while listening to Miss Pauling. "... okay, so instead of fighting other mercs, we're going to be fighting robots?" she asked, honestly tempted to shoot Ninja in the head right then and there. Her hand twitched towards her pistol as her dark blue eyes hardened for a moment.

"Interesting..." murmured Scout. It was clear her head was whirring. Being a Scout class, she could easily outrun and dodge the robots, and would be capable of snatching up any money that fell from them with relative ease.

"The catch," Ms. Pauling continues, "Is that as impressive as your weapons might be, the sheer number of them will eventually overwhelm, in addition to these."

She holds up two pictures, showing what seems to a normal robot...until the group notices another right next to it, several times smaller than the giant. The second picture shows an enormous tank.

"Not only do there seem to giant robot versions of you all, but tanks that, if we are correct, are carrying immensely powerful bombs."

Most of the rest of the mercs looked more or less pleased by this, actually - natural-born sociopaths, for the most part, it was to be expected. Medic chuckled to himself. "I am vanting ze head of zat giant robot for my vall!"

"M dmdn't knmw ymm hmd m wmll..." Pyro said, largely ignored.

Engie was running numbers in his head. "So you want the eleven of us to take on all of that? Don't we get anything to make things a little more, y'know, even?"
