Dark Days of Albion
New Role-play based around the King Arthur legends.
Set around 450 AD, the island of England (Called Albion at this time) is under a dark age. The evil Saxons and worse threaten to overrun the isle.
Occupations(Bold) and Suboocupations(italic) you can play as
Swordsman- You have been trained in the arts of war whether at an academy or self-taught. Role: Tank/Melee DPS
Knight- Born to a high ranking family in your home kingdom, you are a warrior trained from birth to defend those who cannot defend themselves. Role: Tank/Leader
Crusader- Trained by a secret society, you are a knight who has sworn to fight the forces of evil. Role: DPS/Leader
Sellsword- Whether a disgraced knight or a militant vigilante, you are a mercenary who travels from place to place. Role: Melee DPS/Tank
Rogues- Master of skills, a rogue is one of three things, depending on the individual: a sneaky little b******, a quick thief, or a brawny brute.
Scoundrel- masters of trickery and thieving, scoundrels have no time for a fair fight. Nor will they ever have the time. Role: Melee/Range DPS
Burglar- Years of breaking into places has turned you into a professional lockpick. Role: Melee DPS/Support
Mugger/Highwayman- Most of your life has been spent beating people up and taking their money. Role: Melee DPS/Tank
Mage- You have been born with magic. Role: Magical DPS
elemental- Master of the elements. Role: Magical DPS
Psiconics- Moving crap around and getting into peoples heads and screwing with them. Role: Magical DPS/Support
Balanced- A combination of both. Role: Magical DPS/Support
Archer- You are trained with either a bow or crossbow. You are also a long-range DPS
Hunter- You are an expert tracker. Role: Long-Range DPS/Healer
Watchmen- You have spent most of your career guarding someone, whether it be a monarch or a warlord. Role: Long Range DPS/Tank
Ranger- Whether you were born in the wilds, chose to live there, or were exiled, you have mastered its path. Role: Long Range/Melee DPS; Support
Lore master-With your knowledge of the myths and legends and histories of many cultures, you can boost the morale of your companions with just one heroic story or song. Role: Melee DPS/Healer (For all of them.)
Story-Teller- Adept at telling heroic stories
Minstrel- Singing the ballads of heroes in the days of old
Bard- Both a story teller and a minstrel.
You can play as 2 characters.
I have a few rules for this roleplay:
1. Restrictions on Magic- I know this may be infuriating to some people, but the restrictions on magic are no time bending and no reality warping. The only exception to the reality warping rule is if a mage uses it to disguise themselves or a companion. Illusions are fine, as long as they are short-term. Besides, in this roleplay, Merlin is the most powerful wizard out there, and he can't bend time. If he can't bend time, NO ONE can.
2. In combat, you must first role a d20. If the role is higher than a ten, it will be a hit.
If you make a hit, you must role a d12 and determine the damage based on the role and the range in which the number is in. The table is below:
12: Congratulations, you have just killed or knocked out the guy.
10-11: The guy is mortally wounded.
7-9: The guy is severely injured and doesn't have the strength he had at the beginning of the fight.
4-6: The guy is moderately injured, but has enough strength to continue fighting.
1-3: 'Tis merely a flesh-wound!

Could there be a Balanced mage, and Sellsword in one character?

Re: Dark Days of Albion
I will be making a character belonging in the Swordsman category (though I'm not sure which of the three sub-categories). Also, wouldn't a more apt name for the Mugger class be Highwayman? The term "mugger" carries an association with large cities with it IMO.

Yes you can combine classes. The maximum number of classes you can combine are 2.

Re: Dark Days of Albion
Now posting my character Drostan...
Drostan MacAllister
Ye cannae seriously expect to fight me with that tiny little blade, lad!
Full Name: Drostan MacAllister
Age: 28
Race: Human, Pictish
Gender: Male
Appearance: Freaking. Huge. No, seriously, the man towers over just about everybody and he’s got massive and numerous muscles. Shaggy black hair, massive bristle-like beard, one blue and one green eye.
Height: 7’4’’
Abilities: The man is a beast in combat. You don’t want to be in the way when he brings out his greatsword. He’s immensely (though not superhumanly) strong and a brilliant fighter. And he can probably drink his weight in alcohol, but he hasn’t tried it yet.
Equipment: Fionnghal, a masterwork greatsword (akin to a claymore, ‘cept those weren’t used until the 1200s apparently *grumble* I may call it a claymore anyway, I have an artistic license dontchaknow) with a ruby set into the crossguard and a likeness of a sunburst embossed along the blade. He also has a dirk (basically the same as a dagger) and his armor, consisting of a ringmail chestpiece, bracers, a breastplate and greaves over hardened, studded leather padding.
Personality: Very outspoken, loud, and jovial (usually). Not one to sit around and do nothing. Bit of a temper and a little bit of a “solve the problem by hitting it with greatsword repeatedly until it doesn’t bleed anymore” type person.
Habits: Drinks. Obsessively.
History: Scotsman berserker in Pictish lands, hired successively for various jobs that ended up landing him south in England (ish). Basically unremarkable.
Occupation: Berserker/freelancer
Affiliation: True Neutral
Flaws: Prone to outbursts of temper and/or bouts of drunkenness.
Tactics: Chop them up into ribbons with his huge claymore. ‘nuff said.
Tier: 1
Notes: Speaks with a thick Scottish accent.

Re: Dark Days of Albion
Let's start the roleplay.
You are walking along a forest when you come across an old man. He looks at you and says, "Can you lend me something to eat?"

Re: Dark Days of Albion
Drostan leaned against a tree, perplexed by this request. "Lend? D'ye mean t' tell me ye plan on payin' me back, then?"
Re: Dark Days of Albion
"I will pay you back." The old man said. "But right now, I want something to eat."

Re: Dark Days of Albion
Drostan fished around in his pack and pulled out a piece of bread, holding it out to the man.
Re: Dark Days of Albion
"Thank you young man." The old man says, graciously taking the bread. "Stay for a moment. I need your help. If you help me, I promise you will be rewarded as a Knight of Camelot."

Re: Dark Days of Albion
"A knigh'? What with the holdin's and everythin'?" Drostan was incredulous. That definitely sounded too good to be true...but if it was...Sir Drostan had a nice ring to it...

Re: Dark Days of Albion
"I am Merlin, Court Sorcerer to the mighty King Uther Pendragon of Camelot. As you may know, the Saxons have been threatening to overrun the isle. The warlord Vortigern has invited Saxons to his court to unite the Britons and the Saxons as one person. The fool. He was poisoned by the very men he invited to his court.
"There seemed to be no hope for the Britons, as the Saxons were too strong for us to repel. Villages were burned, innocents were massacred. It was a dark time for the Britons.
"However, we found our resolve in the bold Uther Pendragon, who had halted the Saxon's advance and rallied the Briton Tribes under one banner. For the span of two decades after the Saxons were defeated, we have had peace.
"But the great king has been wounded in a recent battle with a Saxon raiding party. He just fell ill last night. And what's worse, his son, Arthur has disappeared. Will you help me find his son?"

Re: Dark Days of Albion
Now posting my character to be worked in to the story:
Elvia:
Occupation role: Minstrel
Gender: Female
Info/back-story: Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am a woman of 18. I am a minstrel. I know it’s strange for a woman to be a minstrel…
I could tell that my parents wanted a male. It was jus something in the way they treated me. One of the people I looked up in my clan was my uncle. He was a minstrel. He would travel around with his instruments and sing and tell stories. He was one of the few people who never consistently talked about me growing up and marrying and having kids and weaving and sewing and ect. I never wanted to do any of that stuff.
So when I came of age I left our village to become a minstrel. I love to sing and tell stories. Although, I suffer from writers-block a lot and I have trouble coming up with a story to sing. People say I’m not very good.
I’m small for my age. I have a young face a lot of times get mistaken for a young boy. But that’s ok, because no one would want to hear a woman as a minstrel anyway.
I’m impish, feisty, and stubborn. Don’t mess with me!
We’ll meet in a little bit.

Re: Dark Days of Albion
A young minstrel approches holding a lute. She is singing.
"…The tree it grows so high
The tree it has branches
The leaves grow so green
The leaves flutter in the breeze
Drat, I can't think of what else to say."
Sees the 2 characters
"You two there! Greetings. Care for a riddle?"
