When the two reach the tree, they notice Jonathan standing at the base admiring the blaze. He notices people arrive happily, and begins chattering at them absentmindedly.

"Wouldya look at that! What a nice, even burn! A little sulfer and saltpeter does wonders for strength. I really didn't expect a tree to go up so well - too much water, ya know? Unfortunately, that was my last bomb for a while. I won't be able to make another until I can get the materials." He says sadly. "By the way," He says picking up a riceball/doughnut next to the burning tree, "do you know who left these? They won't make very good bombs, but they might be fun to burn!" He finishes brightly, taking a match from his bag to light it on fire.

"I...uh, I...uh, what? You're gonna burn the whole forest down!"

Meanwhile, back where November is, after she's stopped moving whatever it is runs into her at full tilt with a loud "Oofh!" It turns out to be a girl with long golden hair and a red skirt, panting and disheveled from just having sprinted a fair distance. She grabbed her hat off the ground and jumped to her feet. "Come on! We have to move!" she said urgently, eyes wide with fear.

Jack swipes the rice ball from the pyro's hands before the match is lit. " not bombs, food. Now what the hell are you doing?"

Serena grabbed November's arm. "Just come on! It's coming, it's been following m-" Before she can finish the sentence, an opaque blob of golden-green sap arcs out of the forest plants and splatters across her face. She lets out a muffled yelp and falls to the ground, trying in vain to pull the sap from her face.

From the direction she came from comes a large Pokémon that looks like a cross between an Arbok and a Victreebel. It glares malignantly down at the two Trainers. "Has...treebel" it hisses.

Jonathan, who hadn't considered that as a possibility, looks over at Desmond distractedly, match still in his hand. "Really? That would be really cool to watch. But I doubt it will happen; these trees have too much water in them." He completely ignores Jack, except for a rather vague attempt to recapture the riceball.

Jack keeps the rice ball out of Jonathan's reach and notices the battle going on in the direction of the hastrebell (or however you spell it)

The Hastreebel promptly shifted its gaze from the girls to the stout Pokémon standing in front of them. It looked disdainful for a moment before its tail glowed purple and it whipped itself at Snorunt, very quickly.

Snorunt got sent flying into November who sitting on the ground ordered Joltik to take Snorunt's place. "Joltik use spark!"

The Hastreebel took the hit from Joltick but seemed to hardly notice it. It bit down hard on Joltick's body, glowing a faint green as Joltick looked rather ill.

Snorunt had recovered from the blow and used Icy Wind, while November took the time to sit up.

"sweet, some action." Jack says running over to the battle with Quilava following close behind.

Desmond stared for a moment at November before following.

Meanwhile, Serena was still struggling with the sap stuck to her face, wriggling around on the forest floor.

The Hastreebel took this attack as well, though similarly it didn't seem to mind much. It launched a barrage of glowing green leaves at Snorunt, that magically homed in on it.

"Quilava use flamethrower!" Jack commands as his Quilava charges up and releases a large ball of fire at hastrebell.

Snorunt was knocked back, but seemed able to take another blow "Snorunt, use Ice wind, Joltic use agility."

The Hastreebel ducked the Flamethrower and took a blow from the Icy Wind again. It lunged forward and latched onto Snorunt this time, glowing a faint green as it leeched energy from the smaller Pokémon.

Snorunt collapsed. November yelled "Joltik use string shot."

The strings of webbing briefly lashed the larger Pokémon to a tree, but it promptly snapped them and let loose with another Magical Leaf.

Joltik got hit by the magical leaf, but was up and running again, jumping up at its foe and used bugbite.

The Hastreebel let loose with another Sticky Sap attack, sticking Joltick to November's face in a blob of sticky goop. It then advanced on Quilava, hissing menacingly.

Quilava used another flamethrower, following it with a flame wheel attack heading straight for the hastrebell.

Hastreebel wasn't looking so confident after the flamethrower and the flame wheel knocked it back twenty feet, so it decided to pursue easier prey and slithered off.
