Dawn, taking advantage of everybody piling on Surge, made her way over the rubble to check on Servine, who seemed to be more or less out of it, so she recalled it. Litwick, having noticed its Trainer, chose that moment to pop out from behind some more rubble and await orders. Quietly, Dawn said, "Use Will'O'Wisp on Surge, see if you can hit that thing on his neck." Litwick hopped up on top of the collapsed wall that the two were hiding behind and launched a thin stream of blue fire at Surge, presumably from behind.

(I presume Jolt was the new guy that attacked before?)

Surge manages to shift Golett in way of Jolt's attack, but the Will O' Wisp hits him straight in the back, burning away much of his uniform.

Underneath in a purple, spider-like machine, clamped onto Surge neck and upper back. The skin around the device has turned a sickly black. After the attack, however, the device begins to spark and smoke.

Jolt was able to roll over Gollet but he landed out of range for another face kick, so Jolt got up took three steps back and charged before going into a slide and was able to lift a leg up just in time to kick Surge in the nuts but Jolt had to get up quickly(roll1), and get out of Surge's swinging range with the Gollet(roll2).

Jolt was on his feet quickly but he couldn't get out of range (if Surge swung Gollet then Jolt would get hit with its legs hard), so he braced for a counter attack from Surge.

The device still smoking and sparking, Surge lets go of Golett, collapsing into bowing position, head slumped forward.

Golett landed adroitly on its feet and directed another Mega Punch at the device.

Suddenly, Surge grabs Golett's fist, stopping the assault. Purple and black smog starts to slowly pour from the damaged parts of the device and the black area on Surge's back starts to grow. On his arms, his veins turn purple, then black. Surge looks at Golett, blood dripping from his eye sockets, his eyes themselves blurred and unfocused. He tightens his grip and several cracks form on Golett's hand, shooting up its arm.

Golett screeched and used Iron Defense, glowing blue and reducing the damage done.

Dawn, hearing Golett's cry, looked up over the ruined barricade she was hiding behind and gasped as she saw the damage done to her Pokémon. Without thinking, she snatched up a board from the rubble and ran at Surge. "Let go of my Pokémon!" she screamed, swinging the board as hard as she could at the back of Surge's head.

The board strikes his head, but Surge seems to barely notice. He releases Golett, before turning to Dawn, staring directly into her eyes, his still dripping blood. It was then that Dawn realized just how much taller Surge was than everyone else and how much stronger he looked.

Surge clenched his fist, swinging it at Dawn, when...

"Shadow Sneak!"

A purple shadow shoots up from under Lt. Surge, tangling his legs and tripping him. Walking up to Dawn, Aaron struggles to support Morty, who is covered in bandages and dried blood.

[In the anime at least, Pokémon Centers have always filled that role.]

"You guys need to get him some medical attention, hopefully the pokemon center wasn't destroyed." Jolt says when he spots Morty. Jolt then walks over and takes most of Morty's weight off of the kid that was carrying him.

Dawn, stumbling back and away from the prone Surge, looked wide-eyed at Aaron. "W-what happened to him?" she asked, meaning Surge.

"The Pokemon Center..." Morty mumbles, pointing towards the entrance of town, before dropping into unconsciousness. His Gengar pops up, with a panicked expression.

"Hurry!" Aaron says, "I patched him with what I had, but it will not be enough if you don't get going!"

Surge leaps back to his feet. By now, the black area on his back has begun to invade his arms.

"I don't know, but whatever it is, that device is to blame," Aaron says, pulling out a pokeball, "we need to get it off him."

Aaron sends out Togetic, who flies up to Lt. Surge.

"Use Yawn, Togetic."

A puff of white smoke hits Surge, who begins to stumble.

Meanwhile, Surge's Electivire has stopped, confused as to what is going on with its trainer. Thundurus, on the other hand, has started smashing apart random buildings around it.

Golett heard that and launched a Shadow Punch at the device, while Dawn, summoning her courage, swung the board at Surge again, this time at the horrible machine on his back.

"She has a point kid. If we try carrying him then we might not make it in time." Jolt says before waiting for the kid to make the first move, so Jolt doesn't drag the unconscious man and the kid behind him.

"Ok, just hurry," Aaron says, carefully starting to set Morty onto Torterra.

Meanwhile, Lt. Surge dips down, dodging Dawn and Golett. The Shadow Punch hits the board, breaking the top of it off. Surge stumbles some more, trying to stay awake.

Jolt notices Surge and has a mixed look of shock, annoyance, and amazement all in one.

"Why can't that idiot just go down and stay down?" Jolt asks as he runs past a pile grabbing a long rod of metal that used to support a section of building along the way.

(True, but it can be redirected. Example, the "Follow Me" move. Basically, Surge moved so that the Shadow Punch hit the board instead of him. It would have hit him had it not hit the board)

"Dawn, help me out please!" Aaron says, grabbing Surge's right arm, "If you grab his other arm, maybe we can hold him in place long enough for him," motioning to Jolt, "to take out the thing on his back!"

"Be careful, he still has some spark in him. He won't go quietly!" Jolt yells as he dashes around the boy as Dawn stuns towards Surge as well.

Dawn nodded in response to Aaron, dropping the remnants of the board to grab and hold Surge's left arm. Golett got the general idea and grabbed it as well, likely to be a good thing since it was a good deal stronger than its Trainer.
