Mathew climbed one of the trees, though his red robes weren't the best disguised amongst the leaves. Hooves comming from the south promised that the pursuers were close by.

Mira was stood right behind Aaron. Since she couldn't see through his head, she tilted hers slightly to the side, presenting the priest with the somewhat comical image of a second and far prettier head sitting on the elf's left shoulder.

That said, he gathered magic into the palm of his hands.

Mira took exception to that. A lock of her hair instantly hardened to a serrated adamant tentacle and spiked the priest in his magic-holding hand.

The priest was knocked back, but as he flew, he changed into a wolf-like creature. It snarled and lunged at Mira. The guards who had come with the priest seemed not to mind and charged at the group, swords held at the ready.

Aaron reacted and teleported the changed priest a few yards away so he was out of striking range

Of course that didn't help, because as soon as the priest reappeared, the claws extended like Mira's tentacle and struck Aaron. David recognized the priest immediately for what he was "a shapeshifter!"

Mira was rather complacent about the whole thing - until one of the soldiers swung a sword at her. Adamant can cleave through steel, and it did so, leaving the man off-balance and with only a sword-hilt.

Aaron dubled back after being stuck, he then shot a boult of lightning at the shapeshifter

The man with the sword-hilt decided to press his attack and received a facefull of adamant tentacles for his efforts, Mira looking on impassively as the mostly-headless corpse crumpled.
