He found a compendium bound in some sort of slick leather that detailed a number of places that...well, they started at bizarre and increased the weirdness exponentially from there.

The compendium listed the eight most notable and well-known fragments of the Otherworld: Ardour, Limbo, Pandemonium, Tenebrous, Simulacrum, Euphoria, Oblivion and Bedlam.

Back at the guardhouse David had hired three trackers. The first one, Anton, was a tracker. Good at following footsteps and spotting signs that others would miss. Alfred was their magician, specializing in tracking down people magically. The third one...

"...WHAT!?!?! You are a wine taster!" David was almost ready to jump out of his chair and strangle Alfon, the third tracker "what use are you to me?"

"Well, I can accurately tell when someone took a sip from a glass of wine or any drink for that matter."

"Fine, you can go along, but I'm NOT paying you."

"You hire us all or you don't hire us at all"

Due to David's need for speed he agreed "$#@! businessmen!"

The Overwizard continued to fiddle with various magical apparatus, pointing them at Mira, who seemed bemused; it was difficult to tell as her facial expressions weren't terribly advanced.

"Can't this go any faster?" David asked impatiently. The "trackers" were drawing what looked like upside down giraffes and stars on the floor.

"No, unless you don't want to find your prisoners."

Mira had several times threatened the Overwizard with physical violence; the wall behind him was filled with holes punched by adamant tentacles that were once bluish-black locks of hair.

"OK, I've enchanted this pendulum to point at your refugees, however there is one little detail."

David did not like the sound of that "what!?!"

"Well, it needs to be re-enchanted every so often in case your subjects move. Of course I'll do it for a fee."

David counted to ten, trying not to strangle his tracker in the process.
