CW2: Civil War

[Flagmauth]

With the passing of SHARA, the government was clearly desperate to show they were capable of keeping the growing population of superhumans under control. Norman Osborn, head of Oscorp, biochemical genius and also a Level 9 S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, created the Thunderbolts, a team of superheroes under the exclusive control of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Yeah, they were essentially the Avengers "Lite" but when you think about it the Avengers never really answered to S.H.I.E.L.D. anyway and that made the T-Bolts excel at their job.

Until we found out the truth about S.H.I.E.L.D., that is.

Turns out, the Nazi super-science division HYDRA had duped us all. S.H.I.E.L.D. was corrupt to the core, with next to no real exceptions. I guess Stark was right, talking all that smack about government control being a load of malarkey.

Osborn didn't believe it for a second. He reformed part of S.H.I.E.L.D. into H.A.M.M.E.R. and went on his merry way using the T-Bolts to take down rogue superhumans not adhering to SHARA's draconian guidelines and hunting down HYDRA. Eventually that brought him into conflict with the X-Men and their Institute for Gifted Individuals.

The attack on the Xavier Institute was an unmitigated disaster. Havok defected and Songbird was captured. Citizen V is on life support after injuries received at the hands of Magneto, not counting the dozens of Sentinels that the homicidal mutant ruthlessly slaughtered. But that's not liable to stop them. SHARA has the government's backing, even if the X-Men and countless others don't care for it. And behind it all is the threat that HYDRA could be pulling the strings of the US government to keep SHARA in effect...

[Helsing]

The X-Men arrive at the safe house in Alkile lake. Spider-man not being part of the X-men returned to New york

[Flagmauth]

After an hour and a half or so, Spider-Man's webbing was beginning to dissolve off of Songbird's face. She continued to bide her time, however...she'd probably get one chance to make this work. That and if she found out where the X-Men's safe house was, she'd probably get a nice bonus.

[Helsing]

Logan noticed the webbing coming off "Can someone get me duck tape?"

[Flagmauth]

Nightcrawler looked around. "Haven't got any."

[Helsing]

"Anything we can use to retie her mouth" He says pointing at SB

[Flagmauth]

"Why?"

[Helsing]

"If she opens her trap, we'll have an escapee"

[Flagmauth]

"Nein, I got that bit thanks to the defector - " Havok shot a glare at Nightcrawler, "but didn't Spidey web up her face?"

[Helsing]

"It doesn't last forever"

[Flagmauth]

"Oh. Well, $#!@." Nightcrawler looked unnerved. Songbird could fly - if she wanted she could probably just cut the X-Jet in half and fly off, leaving all the X-Men who couldn't fly themselves to fall to earth.

"How close are we to the prison?"

[Helsing]

"Right about, Now" Logan says as the jets starts to go down

[Flagmauth]

"So we should be alright then." Nightcrawler said, strapping himself in.

[Helsing]

The jet lands on a used helicopter pad "Yes things are fine" Logan says getting out his seat "Everyone grab a bag and follow me"

[Flagmauth]

Kurt and Kitty were only two of the X-Men who followed that order. Pretty much everybody was shocked, confused, scared or some combination of the three.

Songbird, the webbing slowly dissolving, drummed her fingers impatiently on the chair.

[Helsing]

"Don't worry, nothing is going to happen to you guys. I promise were safe here" Logan says talking to the kids

<Don't make a lier out of me Charles>

<I hope you aren't one old friend> Xavier sends

[Flagmauth]

<Your government's after us.> Chamber pointed out.

Still in the X-Jet, Songbird had no idea that she'd been left unguarded. It wouldn't have mattered anyway - with her powers still neutralized and her wrists cuffed to the arms of the chair she could do next to nothing. At least she could finally see some light filtering through the webbing in the corners of her eyes.

[Helsing]

"Yah, but this installation is off books and destroyed by all accounts"

[Flagmauth]

<And they can't have tracked the X-Jet?>

Songbird could sort of see through the now extremely thin webbing.

[Helsing]

"If they could they would be here by now. Now if your done asking questions we need to get everything in the safe house"

[Flagmauth]

Chamber shut up and got in the safe house, followed by Nightcrawler and most of the others.

[Helsing]

Inside was the main operations for the lab. In each direction was a tunnel going to god knows where. Nightcrawler walks by a patch of pipeing that looks to have been sliced three times

[Flagmauth]

"Oh nice."

Out in the X-Jet, Songbird could now see unobstructed. She quickly looked around the inside of the plane while she waited for the webbing over her mouth to evaporate completely.

[A Blind Guy]

"So, what was this lab used for again?" Bobby asks.

"And why are all records of it destroyed?" Meltdown chimes in.

[Flagmauth]

Songbird shook her head, trying to hurry the process of the last of the webs dissolving... Almost free...hurry up, dammit!
