the Sgt then takes jeffs plate and kicks him in the bake of the knee. essentially jeff fell down while the sgt gingerly poured the oatmeal paste on his face.

As the Sergeant bellowed his men outside, they were treated to a unique sight above the New York skyline. It had dragged traffic to a halt and in place of the normal hum of activity was an ominous thrumming...

Suddenly, whatever response anyone might have had was drowned out by a sudden deafening noise from the glowing mass:

More and more bizarrely-shaped aircraft were pouring from inside the cloud, rapidly blackening the sky. The amount was obscene - more than anyone had ever dreamed possible.

And then they opened fire.

What appeared to be a tracer round caught the lieutenant right in the bulletproof vest - and tore him in half, spraying blood all over the other three soldiers. More rounds were falling all around them, too.

The Abrams attracted quite a bit of fire, but it was bouncing off the heavily armored and angled front of the machine. A low, buzzing moan sounded from the direction of the portal, before a blast of blue energy tore apart the tank like a tin can.
