Re: Southernization OOC
I'm naming the AI countries after their location. Don't worry, it's not very strong.

Re: Southernization OOC
Here are the countries you've run into so far:
Name of Country: Kingdom of Shikoku
Government: Ruled by King Oak, a deceitful king, who relies on backstabbing strategies.
Religion: Shinto
Economics: Rely on fishing and rice growth
Military: Mediocre, but spread out to deal with barabarians
Location: Shikoku
Name of Country: Patriarchy of New Zealand
Government: Religiously led government. Head is the king technically, but the Patriarch has pretty drastic influence.
Religion: Believes in various gods, Hyphoon the sea and wind god by far the most important.
Economics: Naval trading nation. Produces wool products, and various foods from farms. Fishing is also a fairly important business.
Military: Has a small navy and small army, due to lack of barbarians. The land forces are fairly inexperienced, unless they are stationed in the southern island.

Re: Southernization OOC
So now that we've played a little Southernization what do you think? Do you think the way the 1st person is implemented or would you like to go back to more 3rd person? Also do you think the pace is adequate doing diplomacy 1st person?

Re: Southernization OOC
Ok, I will update the maps in a little bit with the kingdoms you can see. I'll also add a Japan map link soon. Google should allow you to view the images. Are you able to see the maps?
Also I put your country info on the front of the OOC with undiscovered minerals...or discovered ones...
-------------------
Also, here are some more kingdoms you run into:
Name of Kingdom: Kingdom of Canberra
Government: Primarily they are a trading nation. Doge Piccolini is in charge of the kingdom, guiding an ailing king.
Religion: Zealandish Gods
Economics: Trade dependent economy. Trades with its' southern neighbor (undiscovered)
Military: Small. Small navy
Location: Canberra area and partially along the coastline.
Name of Country: Kingdom of Edo
Government: Damyo Rowan is monarch
Religion: Shinto
Economics: Strong trade economy. Rice is a primary crop, but fishing is also prominent.
Military: Army is not large, but has a relatively large navy to protect its' fishing fleet and merchants
Location: Modern day Tokyo
Name of Country: Kingdom of Osaka
Government: Monarchy-ruled by Damyo Elm
Religion: Shinto
Economics: Strong economy. Rice growth and fishing prominent. Sources of gold are also found.
Military: Good sized military and nacy
Location: Southern Honshu

Re: Southernization OOC
Can I settle another city and what power level is Canberra on? AI civ or city-state? And what difficulty level is this?
Re: Southernization OOC
It is assumed that your settlements spread out as time goes on. If you want to actively build another city you can. I'd recommend expanding north.
Canberra is more like a city-state. All about trade. Not particularly strong, but it does have some ships to protect its' merchants. You don't have quite as advanced ships yet, but that can be changed by conquering Canberra, or making friends with them. Zeeland probably has the better ships so it would be wise to learn from them.

Re: Southernization OOC
Would it be a good idea to expand north, towards OTL Melbourne, and do I require Canberra as a trading partner to keep from economic collapse or are we lower than Prince difficulty?
Re: Southernization OOC
OTL?
You don't have any trade with Canberra yet, so you don't need the trade. Your country is self-sustaining. Of course their trade will enrich you.
Also, there is no "difficulty".

Re: Southernization OOC
Sorry that I haven't posted. Making sure that starting the semester off right got in the way of that. Anyway, I think now I should be able to do it more regularly.
So here are the dice rolls for the invasion of Shikiku- this is to land on the island and embark [I'm adding up comparative bonuses]. I'll later create a list of all the possible bonuses, but here are the ones that I think matter. They are a bit arbitrary...-
Edo v Shikoku: Naval Strength (Shikoku +1), Military Strength at Northern location (Edo +2), Defensive Bonus (Shikoku +3), Mercenaries (Edo +1), Resources (Edo +1), Surprise Attack (Edo +1), Morale (Shikoku +1), Embark onto land attack (Shikoku +2). Grand total: Shikoku has +7 and Edo has +5. Thus Shikoku gets a +2 bonus on its dice roll [first dice Shikoku+2 defense, 2nd dice roll for Edo attack]
Osaka v Shikoku: Naval Strength (Osaka +3), Military Strength at North Western Shore [Osaka +2], Defensive Bonus (Shikoku +3), Mercenaries (Shikoku+1), Resources [$] (Osaka +2), Morale (Shikoku +1), Embark on Land (Shikoku +2), Multifront War for Shikoku (Osaka+1). Total: Osaka +8, Shikoku +7 [3rd dice Shikoku defensive, 4th dice Osaka Invasion +1]
Blind if you want to invade as well (you roll): Naval Strength (Shikoku +1), Defensive Bonus (Shikoku +1), Resources (Tetsu +1), Embark on Land (Shikoku +2), Multifront War (Tetsu +2), Surprise Attack (Tetsu+2). Total: Dice roll of Tetsu has a +2 invasion bonus vs the defensive roll of Shikoku.

Re: Southernization OOC
So, for those of you who are still in the RP (Mycro definately, Blind and Sirious maybe), I was wondering how you feel about this RP. Also, Mycro wanted North America to still have dinosaurs (more accurately Aztecs riding T-rex). That sounds interesting. Any other suggestions for the other continents?
I've also been considering a RP where we all RP the same country (so in other words generals, senators, leaders, cardinals, admirals and king/queen). That is to say, we (except for me) play a rising empire, such as the British empire, the Roman empire, the Mongol Empire or any other empire and I'll play outside forces. If we can get enough players that will allow for us also to create some traitors within the empire. What do you guys think?

Re: Southernization OOC
Are you proposing that Canberra becomes a vassal state [or more like a puppet state]?

I see. Presumably they are going to lose their promised autonomy bit by bit...

Re: Southernization OOC
Out of curiosity, how does Canberra out-navy Arqariqo, when the latter is a coastal city and the former is a landlocked state with a brown-water navy?
Re: Southernization OOC
It does have coastal access and is a bit more advanced than Aqariqo (at least shipbuilding wise). That said, it doesn't help overly much when we are dealing with basically a land war.

Re: Southernization OOC
Everyone basically uses obsidian weapons. Zealand is trading with far away lands (Indonesian ones) to get bronze weapons, which means a few nobles have bronze weapons (including in your country traded from Zealand). As to navy, the Australian nations use smaller ships. Mostly land trade is preferable. Zealand is also the front-runner there, but their ships are not really naval as they are for carrying large amounts of trade goods.
