Shepard nods in responds to Andersons orders. He returns to the bridge "Alanko, Jankens, suit up were going in" to the two in question

***Eden Prime***

"Engaging stealth systems. Someone was doing some serious digging here, Captain." Joker reported as the Normandy flew over the dig site.

In the cargo hold, Shepard, Kaidan and Jenkins were suited up, and Captain Anderson was briefing the away team. "Your team is the muscle in this operation, Commander. Move fast and secure the beacon."

"What about survivors, sir?" Kaidan asked.

"Helping survivors is secondary. That beacon has top priority!"

"Approaching drop point one." Joker reported. Off to the right, a familiar shape appeared. Jenkins was the first to speak, "Nihlus? You're coming with us?"

The turian produced a shotgun and checked it quickly. "No. I move faster on my own." He jumped from the open cargo hold and parachuted down.

"Nihlus will be scouting ahead. He'll feed you status reports throughout the mission; otherwise, I want radio silence. The mission's yours now, Shepard. Good luck!"

"Approaching drop point two." The door slid open again.

"Move out" Shepard says dropping out and opening his parachute. He lands down and scopes the area with his riffle

Kaidan and Jenkins landed quickly on either side and slightly behind Shepard, both taking out their own weapons and doing the same.

No threats presented themselves.

Gunfire could be heard in the distance - before a group of three robotic drones appeared over a hill and shot Jenkins. A lot. His shields dropped in a second and bullets punched several holes in his armor, before he collapsed.

Shepard returned fire at the three drones hailing them with as many bullets his riffle could pump out

A quick scan from Shepard's omni-tool confirmed it: Richard L. Jenkins was dead.

Shepard puts his omni-tool back and leaves Jenkins, returning to the mission "Keep moving" He ordered taking point again. He made a point of checking the area around him so that they wouldn't be jumped again

They did run into a few more of those drones before something more interesting happened. Coming around a rock, Shepard saw a woman, dressed in armor similar to that that he and Kaidan were wearing, dive backwards to avoid a blast from one of the drones. Drawing her pistol, she brought down the drones that were chasing her, allowing her to recover the rifle she'd dropped and get into cover.

On the far side of the little depression this took place in, a pair of humanoid robots were arranging a human corpse on some sort of tripod - once they had it centered, a ten-foot spike shot out and impaled the corpse, dragging it into the air until it dangled about halfway down the spike. The two robots turned almost in unison and advanced on the rock the woman was hiding behind, one to either side with weapons drawn.

Shepard takes a shot at the approaching drones

The robot takes the hit in the left of the torso, the force nearly knocking it to the ground. A moment later it deploys a hexagonal energy barrier in front of itself as it regains its balance. The other robot is instantly alerted to Shepard and Kaidan's presence, taking cover behind a small rock outcropping.

Shepard takes cover. He then throws a grenade at the outcropping of rock the drone was taking cover behind

The robot responded by placing down its own energy barrier in front of the rock and then jumping the rock, using it as cover from the grenade blast while keeping the barrier between itself and Shepard's gun.

The other robot, meanwhile, had taken advantage of the distraction to pop up over the barrier and spray bolts of energy at them.

The robot took a couple of shots to the head and neck and went down - courtesy of the woman from earlier. But the other robot was already moving, firing at the now-exposed female soldier from behind.

Shepard runs as quickly as he could tackling the woman into cover. He then returns fire on the drone

Shepard was fast - if he'd been born on Earth he might have qualified for the Olympics as a sprinter.

But even he couldn't outrun blasts of energy. They went through the woman's shields in moments and tore apart her armor like so much glass. Before Shepard could get to her she'd already collapsed, her lower back a mess of red that was rapidly pooling on the ground around her.

Oh, and now the robot was shooting at him. Kaidan was keeping the other one pinned down, disabling its weapon temporarily with his omni-tool, but the one that had killed the soldier was already shooting at the Commander.

Shepard swears to himself before making a brake for cover himself. As he ran he aimed as best as he could at the attacking drones
