Austria hasn't decided yet which side to join, but military recruitment (not optional) starts around the country. Austria waits to see what it's ally Germany is going to do...

Re: Timebreak
The Russian offensive in Scandinavia has run afoul of the fortifications there and is well behind schedule. The Hungarians, unable to stop the Russians, appeal to Germany and Greece for help. The Italians make headway in Yugoslavia.
The United States has now, with the annexation of the Republic of Florida, regained all of its territory lost in the War Between the States. Russia, not seeing the use of its North American holdings and figuring that extra cash (which the Tsar doesn't have much of) can't possibly be a bad idea, offers Alaska to the United States. The USA, in a controversial decision that generates much hostile response in the press (most of whom also don't see the use of Alaskan land), accepts.

The Germans Sell the Hungarians Weapons and several Mercenary factions are purchases by the Hungarians. The Mercenaries have no ties to the German Government and they Do not Support them Helping the Hungarians at all.
The German Army is however preparing incase of a Russian attack.
The Germans Conduct more Research in to Airplane Technology, and the other basic Research.

(Well that's fine and Dandy)
#1: Airplanes: The Germans Scientists Discover a Way to make a better airplane. By Combining the Lighter Aluminum alloy they use in their airships, they can use it to make stronger hulls and allowing their airplanes to move incredibly fast, and be more resistant to weapons and Incendiary devices. The German Scientists however Discover that using a Bi-wing will not be an option with this plane and are calling in some American Scientists to help with the endeavor.
2: Germans continue their research into Gasses, having decided just looking into the Destructive ones is not as useful as they previously thought.
3: Germans Develop better engines on their tanks allowing them to have thicker armor.
4: There was an Explosion at a munitions plant, the resulting fire killed 50 people, and wounded 112. New Regulations have been put in place to prevent this from happening again.

Re: Timebreak
The Americans agree to assist the Germans on their projects. They figure that examining German designs and prototypes will be beneficial to their own fledgling air arms.
The French, noting an increase in both Russian and German troop concentrations along their mutual border (the Germans are respecting the DMZ, right Ian?), begins leaning on Belgium and Luxembourg, trying to secure access to Germany through the more passable terrain therein. Talks between the Low Countries and France have heated up accordingly.

Austria begins to build camps for the refugees from Hungary who fled out of their country. Many of the Hungarian news editors are beginning to write pro- Hungarian newspapers. However, Austria shows no interest of joining the fray...

Re: Timebreak
[Kay then. Also you realize that Russia is currently attacking two of Germany's biggest trading partners? Hungary has tons of oil and copper, and Scandinavia has most of the iron the Germans use.]
Re: Timebreak
[In other news, according to some advice I've received from Trey every so often I shall post a State of the Nations address. Basically this will cover anywhere from most to all of the countries involved in the RP, including player ones, and will give a summary of that country's motivations, goals, etc. etc. Obviously the analysis of player countries will be slightly different.]
State of the Nations:
Austria: The population of Austria is divided roughly 50/50 between those happy with the Hapsburgs and those not. Those who aren't happy cite the loss of almost the entire empire as the main reason for their being unhappy, and there is talk about sharply reducing the power the Emperor holds (i.e. overthrowing him).
Britain: The British sense of pride has been severely damaged by the loss of Canada to what up to this point had been a nonpower (the US). They are currently fighting a rebellion in India sparked by their perceived weakness and the government is looking for any excuse to boost national pride.
France: The French military high command is scared stiff of the prospect of German dominance on the Continent. As such, France currently fields the largest army in Europe besides Russia, and has the best equipment (particularly tanks). Their air force is lacking, but their navy is also the second best in Europe (after Britain). They are allied with Russia and have pledged their support should a Russo-German war erupt. Currently they are trying to gain military access to Belgium for easier entry to Germany, but as Belgium is having none of it, whispers that some in the French government are thinking about directly annexing the smaller country have reached the ears of German intelligence officers.
Germany: Germany is at this point the main enemy of the two largest armies in Europe. The Kaiser's leadership is stable and well-liked by the German people, despite mild unease at being threatened on two fronts.
Italy: The Italian friendship with the Germans, Greeks and Austrians is one of convenience (Italy having also made herself useful to France by quietly selling them some German panzer designs) and should be treated as such. Their stated objective of invading Yugoslavia is to create a (nominally) independent Croatian state but in a certain light looks like an attempt at laying the foundations for an empire. Italy believes Greece to be in her sphere of influence and will likely reflect that in Greco-Italian relations as Italy's power in the Mediterranean expands. The Imperium also has its eye on the wreckage of the Ottoman Empire.
Japan: Japan is, for the moment, quiet. Almost no headway has been made by any country in gathering intelligence on the Empire's motives, and it looks to remain that way for some time. Japanese ships, however, have been spotted performing exercises near the Dutch East Indies.
Russia: Tsar Michael II had a large army left over from the previous Russo-Austrian war and has decided it would be best used in expanding the Russian economic and military base in Europe; hence the twin invasions of Scandinavia and Hungary, to gain iron and oil respectively. That this also encircles Germany and cuts off vital sources of raw materials is merely a bonus (There are other sources of materials, Ian, namely the very friendly US)
Scandinavia: The Scandinavians have put in a request for German assistance against Russia, despite the fact that the Russians have gained very little ground on the extensive Gustav Line, which is at the moment the most advanced if least completed defensive trench network in Europe.
USA: The Americans largely have not picked sides in the rest of the world; they have rather friendly relations with both Germany and Russia and are nearly equally supportive of both sides. The American colossus encompasses all of North America above Mexico, plus the islands of Cuba and Hispaniola. Most of the government's resources are being consumed with the Herculean task of absorbing the Confederate Republics, Deseret and Canada into the nation, complete with a sizable amount of resentful Rebels who have repeatedly caused havoc in the territories of Trans-Mississippi and Grand Carolina.

The Germans begin to try to stabilize their relationship with Great Britain. Opening up more trade alliances, and scientific collaboration. Meanwhile the Germans begin construction of a stronger airship. Its light hull is now made with a new stronger aluminum alloy.
The Germans also open more alliances with the Ottoman Empire, a stronger force to the south of Russia.

Re: Timebreak
16012112 wrote:(In this post the Ottoman empire will basically split into many different kingdoms...)
As Greece split from the Ottoman empire, it couldn't have been at a better time. Mehmed V had been assassinated by Arabs, who didn't like the selling of their well. The Arabs proceed to rapidly make modern day Iraq, Kuwait, and the Gulf Shore area of Saudi Arabia into a new and even holier Islamic empire with Baghdad as it's capital. The new Shah or Calif (I don't know which they'd prefer), nationalizes the oil wells for the Holy Islam Empire.
The Syrian descendants of royal blood decide this is the time to create the New Syrian Kingdom, and with their secretly gathered troops create an uprising in Jerusalem and Damascus. The capital of the Syrian Kingdom is yet at debate, for both cities seem like a very good spot to rule from. Their territory include modern day Syria, Israel, Lebanon, and Jordan. The Jews want their own land but the Syrian Kingdom does not want this and has troops stationed in major cities. (This is where I let you decide if you want Israel Jeffery)
Egypt with no messages from the Ottoman Empire decide that they are no longer under the Ottoman boot heel and the three major families in Egypt start a civil war. The first family has their capital in Cairo, the second in Alexandria and the third in Port Said.
Serbia, also independent for the same reason, got quickly put under a dictatorship, under a former Ottoman Lord of Hungarian decent. Their Territory includes modern day Macedonia, Albania, and Serbia & Montenegro as well as western Bulgaria.
(I'll from now on play as Turkey)
Turkey ran a democratic revolution to get the same quality of life that the Americans before the war. They had gotten modern day Turkey (no way!), Cyprus and parts of eastern Bulgaria. Turkey and the new Greek Kingdom have yet to agree on the islands that lie in between them. Turkey did however recognize Greece apart from the pact (below)
The newly emerged Turkey, Kingdom of Syria, the Holy Islam Empire, and Serbia have already signed a pact recognizing each other. The Greek are invited to join and so are the Egyptians once they figure out who is going to lead them...
[Ian, I don't advise allying with a defunct nation. It'll make people think the Kaiser's crazy.]
Britain, suffering from a notable lack of allied powers on the Continent and eager to oppose expanding Russian power (notably in Persia), welcomes the German's attempts at increased friendship.
Re: Timebreak
In Austria a minor rebellion (Austrians and Hungarians) is put down in eastern that protested the Hapsburg monarchs, blaming them for the fall of the empire.

Re: Timebreak
The government of Hungary is dissolved by the Russians. Organized resistance by the Hungarians has largely ceased, with small-unit actions being fought near the German and Austrian borders. The majority of the troops and machines involved are now being transported slowly northward (slowly because of Russia's dismal rail lines) in preparation for the destruction of Scandinavia as a country.
Note: With Hungary gone, Russia is now taking most of the Hungarian/Romanian oil for its own use. Shipments to Germany, Austria and other countries decline sharply.

Re: Timebreak
The resistance against the Hapsburg rulers is inviting Hungarian refugees to join. They think that the King is a tyrant and incapable of politics. The resistance has yet to find a leader.
The Austrian king doesn't want to be unseated and closed the border to Hungarian refugees. A few towns have been burnt down to prevent further rebellion.

Re: Timebreak
The rebels have found their leader in Peter Obermoser, a communist sympathizer. Fighting is currently happening in central Austria (rebels are using gorilla warfare). Obermoser has ordered pro-communist letters to be spread throughout Austria in order to gain support.
The King has closed of rail lines ever since the rebels (with heavy casualties) have managed to capture a wagon full of guns and another full of steel. The King also banned paper to be produced and bought to stop the pamphlets from spreading. Nobles have fled into Bavaria and Switzerland, followed by pro- communist pamphlets which are sent to the local peasantry.
The King is has sent a letter to Berlin asking for the Kaisers assistance.
Obermoser has done likewise and sent a letter to Moscow, asking for Russian help in the revolution. Obermoser also sent a letter to his old friend Lenin, asking if he wanted to be part of a glorious history.

Re: Timebreak
The Tsar sees no reason to aid the rebellion in Austria. The Russians have noted the left-leaning stance of Obermoser and taken a distinct dislike to it.
The Italians, ominously, have adopted an unfriendly stance towards both Austria and the rebels.

[Socialist/Communist. At this point, the Europeans are exclusively capitalist. Autocratic countries (mostly Russia, but also sorta Germany, Italy, and the SE Europeans) are going to be suspicious of any threat to their authority and by extension any philosophy that demands a lessening of that authority is a threat.]

Having heard of the Italian ships in her water boundaries, Greece immediately begins to watch the Italian Imperium with a close eye, and the now middle-aged king has sent spies into Italy and report anything that looks suspicious.
