Re: Southernization
The Canberran king accepts under one condition. The army he sent to help would be released (and they might blab).

Re: Southernization
The king agrees to become a vassal. A disgruntled one.

Re: Southernization
The Tiqun is glad to hear it. With Qanbera added to Arqariqo's territory, he begins to ponder new names for the kingdom - one can hardly go around calling an empire by its capital city. A detachment is sent north to claim territory by settling a new coastal city, while Qanberan shipbuilding is studied and quickly found to be superior. Plans are made to replace existing vessels with the Qanberan model.
Re: Southernization
Of course with the military expedition, Aqariqo has managed to get itself two new rivals. Tasmania is angry because they were trading with Canberra. They are trying to shift more of their trade to Zealand (which doesn't really work, because Zealand then trades the stuff right back to Aqariqo) and Melbourne in protest. Melbourne, probably the loudest of the two sends several acidic letters denouncing Aqariqo.
Zealand on the other hand sees it as a sign that Aqariqo is blessed by Hyphoon (and that they are now faithful to the one and true faith) and removes the Aqariqo cardinal (a Canberran) and the Canberran cardinal (also a Canberran) and replaces them with Aqariqo ones. The two new cardinals are summoned by the Patriarch to Wellington in order for them to receive their blessings. The Melbourne cardinals plan to skip the ceremony in protest.
Having discovered the maps, Aqariqo merchants are starting to make contact with the north Australian kingdoms. Of course formal diplomatic relations need yet to be established.

Re: Southernization
The Tiqun remains silent on Melbourne's hissy-fit-throwing. He instead sends envoys to the northern kingdoms, hoping to open diplomatic relations.
The new settlement is founded: Nequsa, on the coast north of Arqariqo.
Having seen the swords carried by high-ranking Zeeland nobles, the Tiqun makes an inquiry into them. Apparently they are constructed of things called "copper" and "tin" - this bears further investigation. Agents are dispatched to look into these "metals" and their uses.

Re: Southernization
The northern kingdoms seem to respect outsiders, in particular ones allied with the "Holy Nation". Cairns seems particularly interested in further relations (and a royal marriage is possible with all of these, but be careful not to have too many...). The Indonesian kingdoms don't seem terribly happy about a new nation appearing following the Zealand faith. They themselves honor some nature God and hate Zealand.
The agents that are dispatched to look into the copper and learning some of the basics of how to extract it and how to mold it.
The settlements grow nicely, considering the [presumably] constant supplies. However, troops are needed to keep savages away.

Re: Southernization
As is expected, the troops guarding the northern territory of Arqariqo were shifted north to Nequsa. A significant part of the army that had marched on Qanbera now assists in keeping the inland barbarians off - what with the Qanberans being mostly destroyed and all - as a gesture of goodwill to the new citizens.
Re: Southernization
The Qanberran king manages to flee to Melbourne. The citizens don't really care much. One ruler is as good/bad as the next in their opinion.
In the north, a conflict arises between Cairns and Daru. Wales helps Cairns defend and a religious war is starting up. Already in Wellington the new Aqariqo cardinals are put under pressure to send aid.

Re: Southernization
A local Qanberan noble is chosen to take the king's place - one viewing the administration of Arqariqo as favorable, of course.
An expeditionary force of both Qanberan and Arqariqoar sailors is sent north along the coast.

Re: Southernization
The allied fleet was gathering in Wales. Reports of an enemy fleet being built up were provided by allied spies. As it would have it, the allied coalition consisted of Aqariqo, Melbourne, Tasmania, Zealand, Cairns, Southumberland, Wales and Darwin. The enemies basically of Hanover and the two nations on Papua New Guinea.

Re: Southernization
Finding out that copper and tin come from mines, expeditions are sent out to explore Arqariqo's inland territories - any minerals closer to the main cities of Arqariqo, Qanbera and Nequsa would have been discovered almost by default.
