That was more typical of Thom.

At any rate the group was allowed through and headed across the bridge - where they overhead a conversation between a Bosmer and one of the many Nords. The elf was just beginning to speak as they approached:

"Going up the Seven Thousand Steps again today, Klimmek?"

The Nord in question shook his head. "Not today. The path to High Hrothgar's just not safe enough."

The elf folded his arms. "Won't the Greybeards be expecting some supplies?"

"Couldn't tell you for certain. I've yet to be allowed into the monastery itself. At any rate I'd say they're more interested in the Dragonborn, whoever that is."

Ilyssa elbowed Thom in the ribs when he said that.

Klimmek, in a display of social skills, ignored him. "Really? I appreciate the offer, but I was planning to stay in town for the time being - that and the path isn't safe anyway."

Klimmek arched an eyebrow. "Really? That'd be kind of you. Hold up a second." He vanished into a nearby cabin and reappeared with a cloth sack. "Just some salted fish, dry meat, the sort that doesn't go bad easy. Tell you what, I'll even pay you for your trouble - my legs aren't exactly what they used to be. Just leave that in the offering chest right next to the gates."

There was essentially just one pack of supplies that Vaninir was carrying, though Inigo insisted on trying to take it from him.

Overall, the journey was hard but uneventful - they saw one ice wraith which shied away from attacking the group of them and the troll didn't show up at all. Pretty soon they rounded a huge rock and before them stood the gates of High Hrothgar...
