Sienna whipped back around to face her dad, eyes wide. "How? She's still alive - or...she was last time I checked? What happened?"

"It's not her," her father explained, "Just her how I remember her. Kind of like me here. I'm... I'm not actually your father, I'm just a projection of how you last remembered him. This place," he waves around to the falling islands, "It brings together everything that we remember how we want to remember it. No grand castles unless you want them, no assholes unless you want to see their face. It's as crowded or as quiet as you want it to be."

That didn't make much sense, but nothing about this place did so Sienna decided she wasn't going to question it. Particularly since she'd just thought of something way more important to question. "Okay, next question, how is it that I found a picture of you and Ozpin hanging out together?"

The second the question left her lips, Sienna's father darkened. He stared into the abyss, and the sadness in his eyes spoke volumes.

"It was a mistake. I thought I could do the impossible, and Ozpin... he did everything to make it happen even when he shouldn't have."

"That's...ominous, but not exactly very helpful since I still have no idea what you're talking about." Sienna pointed out, feeling a little bit nervous she might run out of time before she ran out of questions.

Her father chuckled, "You know me, needlessly dramatic."

The small moment of levity didn't last long.

"This isn't the best place for a town. The forest is big enough for Grimm to spawn, and there's no escape route that would let us get out with efficiency. But I built it here anyway, cause I found the fruit here. It was a little thing at the time, barely a bud, but I found it. I took the information to Ozpin and with his held he let me build this town. For years I tried to get it to grow, to get something out of it, but nothing worked. That is... until you came along."

Well, that explained what that weird fruit was doing growing in the church. "If you wanted it to grow, what'd you put a statue over it for? That usually kills plants."

"Better it than you!" he screamed back.

Instantly, the realization of what he did comes crashing down. His shoulders slump, and he looked almost longingly at the abyss below.

Sienna jumped at the sudden increase in volume, startled. "...okay, so if you hadn't done that, bad things would have happened. Got it. You...don't have to yell, Dad."

Next to him, the ground cracked, and a huge section of the island started to fall away.

"Time's almost up," he said solemnly.

"... I'm sorry for leaving too soon."

He looked up and brought Sienna into a close hug.

"You've done so much that I could never do. I might not have done that many amazing things, but I sure as hell left something better behind."

Sterling

The goddess blinked, "Protective aren't you?"

"Of course I am. these people were the first ones to see me without the burdens of noble life. In a sense, they are the first to see how I really am. " Sterling says looking down. looking back up with determination in his eyes he says, "I would give my life to keep them safe. "

The goddess waves a hand, cutting out the image.

"Be warned Satanael, it will be your attachment that both damns and saves the world of man."

She snapped her fingers, and at a blink, Sterling was back in the church. Tyson is shaking him, trying to get a reaction out of him. Poor guy looks like he's been trying... wait, why is it nighttime?

Sienna returned the hug, wrapping her arms around him as tears began to well up in her eyes. "I love you, Dad...I don't want you to leave again."
