After the boy jumps the gap he passed Odd as he shouts his question. Odd chuckled as both bugs circled him.

"Hornets, that's what we called them." He shouts as he watches the hornets. "So who is controlling you now?" Odd asked as the students got in and rode the elevator down before arriving at a floor with three tube structures.

"Quickly get into the scanners!" Mr Belpois shouts from above as the tubes open up to show a glowing floor.

"Cut its connection with the real world. Mrs Belpois will fill you in on how when you see her." Mr Belpois said before the doors closed quickly and Petra as well as Zed was virtualized into Lyoko. Their surroundings remind them of a large forest suspended over water. "Do not fall over the edge! You'll get trapped forever if you do."

Back in the real world, the scanners Petra and Zed were in was now empty. "Next."

Petra looked around. This looked like a video game...what the hell? She looked down at herself. "What just happened?!" She hadn't been wearing this before she stepped into the scanner, and she definitely didn't have a three-section staff.

Mark was then transported to Lyoko and Aelita ran over to the group panting.

"Is there anybody else?" She asked as her Lyoko form caught everyone off guard before they took a chance to look at themselves. "Well I've got to say it, you all got better forms than Odd. But mostly mele weapons...this may be difficult." She said as she ponders their next move. "It would help if I knew your abilities..."

"Abilities?" Petra was still trying to figure out a number of things - why she was wearing different clothes, why she had a three-section staff, why her hair was suddenly a foot longer, and most importantly what the hell was going on?!

Aelita tapped her bracelet and jumped to start flying around on energy wings. She then turned back to the group with a smirk.

"Yes, abilities. Abilities that only you have for yourself." She said as she landed softly.

A quick glance at her wrists confirmed she didn't have one of those bracelets. "How do we activate them, though? Wait, actually - first, where are we?!"

"You are all on Lyoko, a virtual world inside a supercomputer. You activate your abilities in different ways, some by instinct, others with practice." Aelita says with a kind smile.

"Um sorry to interrupt your little question and answer session, but you have two crabs and three Blocks coming your way from the east and west." Jeremy's voice boomed from everywhere. Aelita looked behind her and behind the kids and frowned.

"Okay, the crabs are behind you, avoid their lasers. The Blocks are the cubic monsters behind me, they shoot lasers and freeze rays, avoid both. Only way to beat all of them is hitting the symbols." Aelita explained as she took to the air and flew at the crabs, who stopped and started firing at her. Trying to knock her out of the air. The Blocks were still out of range but slowly got closer to the group.

Petra looked at the monsters, then at the staff in her hands. Those block monsters didn't look terribly frightening...they just had that bizarre symbol on the front. At the same time, none of them had any sort of guns. Or ranged weapons. Petra moved to put a tree between herself and the monsters.

One of the three blocks stopped before it started shooting at the students as the other two kept moving. Aelita had destroyed one of the crabs before a stray shot from the block hit her causing her to fall from the sky. She landed beside Petra as she slowly got up, clutching a sparking abdomen.

"Reminds me of old times." She said with a weak laugh.

"You've...done this before?" Petra asked, incredulous. Before waiting for an answer she looked round the tree trunk to see where the blocks were.

Mark finished looking himself over "Ok I belong in a Fire Emblem game" he looks at his back and pulls out his broadsword sword

He then runs over to Petra "Well this place is nice"

"Yes, I was a part of a group that fought here while we were going to Kadic." Aelita says to Petra as all the monsters are opening fire before Aelita destroyed the last crab. "It would be better if there weren't any monsters." She told Mark.

As Mark charged, one of the Blocks turned its head and shot a freezing blast that froze him in place half way to the Blocks. As he swung his blade, a lazer was deflected at the furthest Block and it explodes. The other two saw Mark as no threat and state shooting at Petra which caused her to flinch and armor to appear. Aelita was stunned and her mouth hung open.

"Jeremy...we should have to get these kids more practice. They are interesting."

Petra was less than pleased with being shot at, to put it mildly. As a couple of laser blasts flew past her head, she brought up her staff to deflect them, only for something interesting to happen. The staff glowed and shifted backwards onto her arms and torso, forming itself around her hands and forearms into bracers that ended in half-meter blades, but without hands. The middle section of the staff formed a heavily armored chestplate across her upper torso and back, and the circlet she'd been wearing since she entered Lyoko expanded into a thick, shield-like metal plate over her face.

She could still "see," in some sense of the word. It was a bit like looking through an Etch-a-Sketch, though. But this armor had to provide at least some protection from the lasers, so that was good.

Alistar had been scanned last, and when he appeared in Lyoko, he was more than a little surprised to find himself in a tuxedo. He also seemed surprised to find a grappling hook strapped to his hip, along with two pistols. Of course, at finding these pistols, and being attacked by monsters, he whipped them out and started to shoot at their eyes, having seen Mark destroy one of the blocks in such a manner. He certainly did look out of place in his tuxedo, but he also managed to pull it off.
