"Acknowledged. Moving up the east bank of the river." Aleksis sent back to Romeo's pilots, the Russian machine breaking off from the group to the left and ahead.

Leatherback wasn't stupid. Four Jaegers versus one kaiju were not particularly happy odds, and the monster started backpedaling even as Otachi, behind it, gave a shrill, warbling cry and stalked southward towards the Rangers. The distance between the two kaiju was dropping rapidly and the Jaegers had yet to make a move.

[Helsing]

Cave noticed the tactics "TAKE ONE OUT BEFORE THEY CAN GROUP NOW!!" He sent over the coms

He turns his head to Eren and his brother nods "Gatlin guns primed. Fire"

Romeo Blue widened its stance, providing a stable platform for its Gatling guns as they spun up, barrels slotting out from their sheltered enclaves in the sides of the Jaeger's chest. Fifty-foot jets of flame erupted from the guns as they fired, the recoil knocking the mech back slightly.

Leatherback recognized the stance for what it was and abruptly lunged to the side in an effort to throw off the Rangers' aim but they simply adjusted and the shells slammed into its face and neck, drawing a bellow of pain as a 60cm shell burned into an eyeball and exploded within. The second shots peppered its torso but did no lasting damage.

"We're going in for Leatherback." Suzaku says over the com

"USE COBRA STRIKE!" the 2 pilots ssay in sync as Taci Ronin unsheaths it's fangblades and starts trunning at the Kaiju.

Romeo Blue's cannons slotted out once again, barrels still glowing red from the last barrage. 60cm shells peppered Leatherback's hide again, drawing splashes of glowing blue blood on impact but otherwise no serious damage. 

The Category 4 had other matters to deal with anyway. Tacit Ronin was closing the distance to it at an incredible rate, aided by its jump jets, with a blade held poised to strike. The kaiju waited and then reared back and out of the way as Ronin's fang blade scythed through the air; had the beast remained, it probably would have lost its left arm. 

That wasn't relevant at the moment as Leatherback brought its right arm around and slammed a mace-like fist into Ronin, catching the Jaeger at the joining point of the Conn-Pod and the main body. The Rangers inside were jarred severely as warning lights blinked and alarms sounded, but there was no critical damage to its systems - though that would change in a hurry if they didn't move; Leatherback was winding up to strike with the other arm.

A couple hundred meters to the west, Cherno Alpha advanced at Otachi, leaning its immense bulk into the charge. The reptilian kaiju watched the Jaeger approach, eyes glittering unpleasantly, before abruptly leaping backwards with lizard-like speed. A fraction of a second later, the ground shook and several nearby windows shattered violently as Cherno's fist went through the area Otachi had been standing and slammed into the ground, leaving an immense indentation in the earth.

The Russians were slow to recover from that - Cherno was slow to do just about anything, but as the machine cycled back into a standing position, Otachi was already moving with speed that looked unnatural on something so large. The kaiju let out a gurgling cry, throat swelling with some sort of sac, as it grabbed Cherno's cooling tower with both of its incredibly long foreclaws and, using its tail as an anchor on the ground, delivered a kick with both of its smaller hind limbs that knocked the iron colossus over backwards, bringing it to the ground with a titanic crash that finished the process of removing the neighborhood's windows.

Kamina and suzaku both regain their composure after the attack
"You all right?" Kamina asks.
"Yeah just fine,Ronin moving back." The jaeger tries to dodge the next swing.

[Helsing]

"Both of these guys can't be taken on by one jeager" Cave says

"Options?" Eren asks

"We thin the herd. Cherno can you hold out on your own while we assist Ronin?"

The Wei Tang brothers steer their Jaeger closer, getting in position to jump and attack with its saw-blade arm "ready when you are..."

[Helsing]

"Assit Cherno Crimson"

"I can jump on the nearest Kaiju and use my sawblade to cut it up."

The Wei Tang brothers after a few seconds delay decide to do just that. Using their jet engines to further their jump, they close the gap between the nearest Kaiju and themselves. With extended sawblades they immediately go into the offensive.

Ronin straightened and rapidly moved backward - but not rapidly enough to keep Leatherback from landing a solid hit on the Jaeger's right side, hitting the Rangers like a punch in the gut and disabling the right laser battery as metal bowed inward and complex machinery was shattered on impact.

Meanwhile, the armored form of Romeo Blue strode towards the battle. The Jaeger's rescue horns blasted a challenge that drew Leatherback's attention away from the reeling Japanese machine as its fingers retracted, forming an arm into a huge metal mace that arced through the air at Leatherback's chin in an uppercut. The kaiju had other ideas, though - it grabbed the incoming mace with both hands, snarling as the cryo jets froze small patches of flesh. Then it pulled hard and knocked the top-heavy American Jaeger clean over, narrowly missing Ronin as the machine toppled, smashing a Ferris wheel beyond repair.

Otachi, having pinned Cherno to the ground, looked up as it heard approaching footfalls. Seeing Crimson Typhoon heading for it with frightening speed, it opened its mouth again - but instead of a fearsome roar, the sac in its throat abruptly constricted and a jet of brilliant blue acid arced through the air towards the red Jaeger...only to splash harmlessly to the ground as Crimson adroitly sidestepped and continued its rapid advance. The onboard AI automatically responded to the thoughts of the Wei Tang triplets as they moved and Crimson Typhoon's fingers fanned out, deploying blades and spinning at awe-inspiring speed with high-pitched whines.

Otachi, for its part, knew momentum was on the Jaeger's side. Category 4 kaiju tended to be smarter than the smaller varieties and this was no exception. Backing away quickly, it allowed Cherno to serve as a speed bump between itself and the oncoming scarlet storm.

The Wei Tangs had the satisfaction of seeing a kaiju's face approximate an expression that quite plainly broadcast WTF in boldface block letters when they jumped straight over Cherno (getting to its feet slowly) and introduced a buzzsaw to the side of Otachi's head, slicing cleanly through flesh and scoring the bone deeply.

The onboard AI announced, for the benefit of LOCCENT and the other crews: "雷云的形成！"

Assisted by its back-mounted rocket boosters, Crimson Typhoon drove Otachi backwards with all the awesome fury and power of the storm it was named for. The kaiju, reeling, had the flesh of its face, torso and arms riddled with twenty-foot slices courtesy of Crimson's rotating blades. Finally, with the monster screeching in pain, Crimson's blades ratcheted to a stop and it clamped all three arms on Otachi's shoulders. The combination of the machine's existing forward momentum and the boosters on its back igniting simultaneously allowed the Jaeger to vault over Otachi's head, lower torso and head rotating to reorient the machine to its new position. 

And Crimson didn't stop there, either. The shock absorbers in its legs groaned as the enormous momentum it had built up was channeled and directed upward. The Wei Tangs all put every ounce of their strength into the attack, and Otachi came off the ground, arcing over Crimson's head in turn before smashing down flat on its back in the middle of the Arakawa River. Or, more specifically, atop the highway bridge across it, pulverizing the structure and raising a huge cloud of dust and an even bigger splash.

"I'm Cave Johnson and I aprove this ass kicking" Cave says with a smile

The Wei Tang brothers stood there for the smoke to clear. (Presumably) Nothing moved, which meant that there was still another Kaiju to kill "lets get the other Kaiju."

The Jaeger turned to face the remaining Kaiju and approached it with blades spinning.

[Helsing]

"This is going to be fun"

"I'll go first" The jaeger used its jet repulsion to once more to launch itself to close the gap between itself and the kaiju. That done, the jaeger smashed its sawblades into the Kaiju.

Crimson's arrival came none too soon - Leatherback brought both of its paws down in a twin strike that smashed into Ronin's Conn-Pod. Alarms screamed inside the Japanese machine as critical systems were forced into shutdown. Motor control and automatic failsafes briefly shorted out - Tacit Ronin's limbs went slack and the Jaeger keeled over sideways, crashing to the ground on the remainder of the ferris wheel.

The gorilla-like beast whirled to face Crimson Typhoon's onslaught, raising an armored limb to block the initial strike from the rightmost blade and then delivering a backhanded blow that sent the Jaeger stumbling backwards. A strange, claw-like organ on its back suddenly rose up, as green light poured from its back. 

"What the hell is-" LOCCENT never finished the sentence. The claw-thing slammed down and a wave of some green energy swept out in a circle from the kaiju. Each Jaeger's HUD went dark, the comms died in a spike of sudden keening noise, and each Ranger felt briefly as though their skin was boiling off of their bodies. Crimson Typhoon, still unbalanced, abruptly toppled over backwards, collision lights blinking out in a shower of sparks. Ronin, already down, just lost its running lights, while Romeo slumped into the failsafe position, meant to keep the Jaeger from falling over if motor controls failed. Cherno, on its way to investigate Otachi and make sure it really was dead (LOCCENT had reported no loss of Kaiju signature), stumbled and went down again - though this time in a three-point post, partially supporting its weight with one gargantuan fist.

And, as though some malicious god of fate felt the situation needed more complications, a battered Otachi, missing several armored plates, an eye, and hemorrhaging Kaiju Blue through its torn throat, hauled itself out of the rubble of the bridge.

"WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED!?!" Cave asked

"HELL IF I KNOW" Eren says

"[Curse] that didn't work" one of the brothers commented. Crimson Typhoon was attempting to stand up into a defensive position, and slowly back away from its adversary.

[Helsing]

"Move f@#$face!" Cave demands

Crimson Typhoon's systems continued to refuse to respond. Romeo Blue's screens, however, flickered a couple times and the HUD reappeared. In the distance, the two Rangers could see Cherno activate its piston in the arm that it was using to support its weight, sending the machine back into a standing position.

Perhaps more importantly, however, was the kaiju barreling towards them at full speed.

Cherno's systems were just as stable as Romeo's, for the moment. Which was to say, not very. The Kaidanovsky's turned their machine to the left as Otachi continued its crawl towards them. For having the crap torn out of it by Crimson, the kaiju still looked as vicious as ever. "Typhoon is down. Deploying the Roll of Nickels." Sasha said aloud, depressing a button on the controls. 

Two enormous cylinders of heavy metal slid forward into Cherno's palms as the machine's huge fingers closed around them, the thumb folding back and out of the way. At that point, however, the Rangers didn't take any action, not through any fault of their own.

They were too busy staring in awe as Otachi unfolded two freaking enormous wings and, with thunderous strokes, lifted off toward them.

Unfortunately for Otachi, this time it wasn't attacking a Cherno Alpha that was regaining its balance after a failed charge. This time, it was attacking a Cherno Alpha that was standing ready, a wall of nuclear powered Russian iron, with a pair of Rangers who had just seen two Jaegers go down and who were more than a little pissed about it.

Unlike Crimson Typhoon, Cherno couldn't hit a kaiju with a flurry of blows; the machine was just too weighted down by armor. As such, it was designed so it only needed to land a few solid hits to absolutely destroy a kaiju. With Otachi already most of the way dead, the Kaidanovskys only needed one hit.

 As such, the Russians lifted their right arm, and swatted Otachi out of the air like a hummingbird hit with a baseball bat. Cherno's fist performed admirably as a welcome; the sheer force of the piston-augmented punch plus Otachi's flight stove in the front and left of Otachi's skull and snapped its neck like a twig, splattering its brain tissue out across its back and practically telescoping the mess that used to be a head into its cavernous ribcage.

Allowing the corpse to collapse on the ground, Cherno slammed its fists together once in triumph, while Aleksis called Otachi something that translated roughly to "castrated piglet." That done, they turned to see Leatherback charging a revived Romeo.
